Kate Middleton Is Not Too Skinny to Get Pregnant

kate middleton prince harrySince Kate Middleton and Prince William have been married all of five minutes now, of course the big question on everybody's mind is "When are we getting an heir to the throne?!" But now a celeb doctor in the UK is saying that Kate might be too skinny to conceive a child. If she loses even one pound more, apparently, she could have "extreme difficulty" getting pregnant.

Smells like an unfounded controversy to me. I get hassled routinely for being too thin, and I conceived and gave birth to two healthy kids. I didn't choose this body type, it's just what I am; pictures of my father when he was young confirm that my build is genetic. Still, people make comments: Just the other day as I was walking down the street in Manhattan, a homeless woman called me an "anorexic b*tch" for no reason. (I hadn't realized that eating disorders were such a cause for concern within that particular woman's demographic, but whatever.)

I will say, however, that I tend to get thinner when I'm under a lot of stress, and I'm betting Kate is the same way. So scrutinizing the functionality of her reproductive system under a global microscope is sure to help pack on those pounds everyone is so worried about!

FYI, if you're truly alarmed by a woman's low body weight, making cracks like "How are you ever going have babies with those tiny hips?" is completely pointless. If said skinny woman does in fact have an eating disorder, this is only going to send her further down the spiral of shame. If she's naturally thin, this can only come across as an insult. When you're on the receiving end of those remarks, you end up feeling like your very womanhood is under attack, which doesn't do a hell of a lot of good for your mental or physical health.

I'm sorry to tell Kate that even if she does get pregnant, this very well could continue. Every time someone freaked out about how "small" I was carrying or how they "couldn't even tell I was pregnant from behind," it made me feel like they were accusing me of starving my unborn babies. Which, believe me, I was not.

I wish Kate the best of health, skinny or plump, pregnant or not. Now let's talk about something else.

Do you think people should stop saying Kate Middleton is too skinny to get pregnant?
