George Clooney Turns 50, Still Like Kryptonite for Women

Today (May 6) we celebrate 50 years of the gorgeous, charming George Clooney. Though he is timeless, ageless and will likely be sexy at 85, Clooney, like all of us, is actually aging but somehow he makes it look so easy.

Who could have ever guessed that the mullet haired boyfriend from Roseanne would grow into such a tall drink of water? Of course, that is not all. In addition to being deadly sexy, he is also smart -- he is very politically involved and well-informed; athletic -- he tried out for the Cincinnati Reds baseball team in 1977; charitable -- he is working hard to find a resolution for the Darfur conflict, raised funds for the 2010 Haiti earthquake, 2004 Tsunami and 9/11 victims, and oh yeah, he is kind of rich and talented, too.

But alas, he is like Kryptonite for women. Kryptonite, as you may recall, was the ultimate physical weakness for Superman. It was his biggest weakness and ladies, George Clooney is ours. Here's why:

The Gorgeous One says he will never marry again. Talia Balsam was his wife from 1989 to 1993 and after they divorced he vowed never to marry again. And now, 18 years later, he has dated countless amazing, gorgeous women and yet, he has kept that vow.

Who is this Balsam and where can I find her? OK, simmer down me. I am married and happily so, but for all the other ladies in the world, I wish he'd reconsider that vow.

Clooney's current girlfriend -- the poor, poor sweetheart -- is Elisabetta Canalis.  She is a 32-year-old Italian model and they have been dating since 2009. Canalis says she is okay with his "vow," but my guess is she is going to be wanting some other kinds of vows in the not too distant future.

But take heart Elisabetta, other stars have taken this same vow and broken it. Take Howard Stern for instance. He always said he would never marry again and it only took model Beth Ostrosky seven years of dating the "King of All Media" to change his mind. And they seem really happy, too!

Hang in there Elisabetta. You may get your ring. And even if you don't, you still get to enjoy George Clooney in his prime. Oh who am I kidding? It will always be his prime! Oh and happy birthday, George. May 50 be the year you change your mind.

Do you think he will break his "vow"?
