Jesse James Plays the Victim in Sandra Bullock Split (VIDEO)

jesse james american outlawJesse James is like a cockroach. He just refuses to go away. Sure, he's made a name for himself thanks to his tattoos, custom-made motorcycles, and being the host of a reality show on Spike TV, but James is best known for cheating on Sandra Bullock last year ... with several women, including Michelle "Bombshell" McGee, a porn star and model who, reportedly among other things, did a Nazi photo shoot. In other words, James is a real winner. (Do note my sarcasm.) And now he wants us to know he's still "winning" (as another total tool we know of would say) by writing a memoir entitled American Outlaw.

In an excerpt, he makes himself out to be a guy who did the "right thing" when he confessed the affair to Sandra ...

I admitted the affair. I told her the hard details. I let her know that I had never loved this woman, that I had never cared for her at all. The feeling of shame and sadness that washed over me as Sandy began to cry was almost beyond measure ... I didn't touch her.

He also writes about how he explained where Sandra went to one of his children:

I chew my lip as I consider my answer. Well, sweetie, the truth is, I have no idea. Daddy f**ked up, real, real bad, so your stepmommy decided to disappear for a few weeks.

Nice language to use with your child there, bucko!

If what he's looking for is pity or forgiveness from the American public, all I can think to say is, "HA! Good luck!" It doesn't matter that he never cared for the woman (singular? Didn't he have a chronic habit of sleeping with MANY women?). His behavior speaks for itself. He had and still seems to have little respect for the relationship he had with Sandra. He doesn't seem like a very upstanding guy in general, let alone someone who would be capable of being faithful in a relationship. Funny -- he plans to get married to tattoo artist-turned-reality star Kat von D this summer, and he told ABC recently that he definitely plans to be monogamous. Pffffffffft!

He also seems to make the case that he's turned his life around, and he's "still standing," despite "taking it in the chin" with all the hounding and gossip and hatin' he's had to endure in the last year. If he truly cared about getting his life back on track, and actually had a hard time with all of the bad publicity, you'd think the guy would embrace a little, err, time off to? But no. This book and the surrounding "look at me!" campaign prove he really just wants another 15 minutes of fame and validation for his bad boy behavior. Gross.

Here, you can see if you think he's a new man in the interview he did on Good Morning America this morning ...

Do you buy that Jesse James is reformed and deserves to be seen in a more positive light now?
