New Beyonce Song Leaked ... If You Really Want to Hear It (VIDEO)

beyonceFrom Britney Spears' "Slave 4 U" to Lady Gaga's next single, "Judas," there are a handful of pop tracks I've had to listen to more than few times before I've fallen for them hook, lyrics, and sinker. Beyonce's just-leaked brand new track "Girls (Who Run the World)" could be like that for me -- but I'm not so sure. To be honest, I'm actually kind of hating it right now.

The single, which samples heavily from Major Lazer's “Pon de Floor," starts out with an abrasive male vocal, and Beyonce repeatedly demanding, "Who run the world? Girls! Who run the world? Girls! Who run this mutha? Girls!" Interspersed are some more empowering lyrics like:

This goes out to all the women getting it in get on your grind/To other men that respect what I do please accept my shine/Boy you know you love it how we're smart enough to make these millions/Strong enough to bear the children then get back to business.

So, while I'm loving the empowering message, the track itself is suuuuper jarring. The beat is so erratic, I'm not sure it's really danceable. And I wanted to shut it off halfway through, even during the "breakdown" that showcases B's signature, melodious mezzo-soprano. Eeek!

Maybe it's just not my cup of tea? I dunno. I do give B major credit for constantly innovating, doing something unexpected, switching it up from what we've heard from her last. "Girls (Who Run the World)" is no "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" by far. But I personally adored "Single Ladies." That's one Beyonce track that I almost didn't mind being played every ... 10 ... minutes on the radio! (On the other hand, I wanted to gouge my eyes out after the third straight month of being unable to escape "To the left to the left, everything you own in a box to the left!" GAHHH.)

I do have to say that if leaked pics are any indication, the video for "Girls (Who Run the World)," helmed by "Bad Romance" director Francis Lawrence, is probably going to be awesome. Looks like Beyonce is decked out in some kind of ornate medieval queen headdress and is heading up an all-female militia a la Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation"! Cool! Maybe somehow that will make the song more palatable ... but I'm not betting on it.

Here's the track, so you can take a listen and see how you feel about it yourself ...

What do you think -- are you into Beyonce's new song?
