Keenan Cahill Is Most Deserving YouTube Sensation Ever

Keenan Cahill and Nick CannonLip synchers don't typically get much love in the music world (or anywhere else really), but 16-year-old Keenan Cahill is adored by millions. He first started uploading his videos to YouTube when he got a laptop for his 13th birthday, and people started watching ... and watching. Soon Katy Perry was tweeting his performance of her song, and the next thing he knew, he was taking the world by storm with his awesome interpretations of popular music.

His success is even sweeter because Cahill suffers from an extremely rare disorder called Maroteaux-Lamy Syndrome, also known as MPS, type 6. He's spent most of his life in and out of hospitals, with dreams of fame no one thought would ever be realized. But now he's living them large. He recently told the Associated Press in a video essay:

I finally got somewhere, out of all the people. I used to pray to God. It's like a switch-back now. I say, "Thank you" instead of, "Can you please get me there?"

His rise to fame has been swift and steep. From just a guy having some fun in his room to touring the world and appearing on late-night talk shows, he has inspired countless others and put himself in high demand. From SmartWater to a host of musicians, everyone wants a piece of this amazing teenager. Here he is performing with Nick Cannon:

When I first heard about Cahill, I wondered if he was famous because people were laughing at him. His appearance is altered due to his disease and he stands just over 4 feet tall, and people can be cruel. But unlike some YouTube sensations, it's clear Cahill knows just what he's providing to the world and isn't going to let anything stand in his way.

As he continues to soar, it's evident also that we're all most definitely laughing with him and standing back in awe cheering him on as he continues to show us that obstacles are no match when it comes to dreams. Go Keenan, go.
