'Scream 4' Reviewers Are Full of Crap

Anyone who knows horror movies knows that they almost always get bad reviews. For all The Ring anomalies, there are 1,000 Friday the 13th spin-offs that get universally panned.

It looks like Scream 4 may join those ranks. But before you go and decide not to see it on opening night (April 15) along with the other early 30s/late 20s generation who grew up on Wes Craven's trilogy, consider that horror is its own genre that few get.

As an avid viewer of all things splatter-filled, gore-heavy, and suspense-laden, I can assure you that no matter what the reviewers say on Friday, Scream 4 will probably deliver what you want. That is to say, if you come to the theater wanting a Merchant Ivory Production, you will be disappointed, but if you want screams, laughs, a few thrills, and some suspense, you will probably be OK.

This isn't to say that there aren't bad horror movies. Lord knows there are. But this will not be one of them. Mark my words. See the preview below:

Obviously, it's impossible to tell from a trailer just how good a movie will be, but in this case, it's clear it has all the elements that I loved from the original. And this mama is calling a sitter in for Friday night so my hubby and I can be first in line to see it.

Look, horror isn't for everyone. It isn't even for most people. But for those of us who love the genre (Me! Me!), we know better than to trust a review from someone who doesn't. If what you're looking for is a good adrenaline rush, some white-knuckle moments, and a little bit of gore (maybe a lot), then this movie is almost sure to be good.

Horror movies shouldn't be judged against Best Picture Academy Award winners (or even nominees). They're their own kind of awesome and I, for one, am 100 percent certain that Scream 4 will live up to all the hype.

I cannot WAIT!

Are you going to see it?
