Matthew Morrison & Gwyneth Paltrow Sing 'Over the Rainbow': Listen Here!

matthew morrison gwyneth paltrowLove her or hate her, it seems Gwyneth Paltrow as the footloose, quirkypants Ms. Holly Holliday on Glee isn't going away anytime soon. Not only is she going to be back when Glee returns a week from tomorrow (squee!), but now she's infiltrating various other avenues of Glee pop culture ... including co-star Matthew Morrison's self-titled album, scheduled to drop on May 10. The duo recorded a cover of "Over the Rainbow," which has sort of become a Morrison catalogue staple, if you will.

Of the track, which will be released tomorrow on iTunes, Morrison told Entertainment Weekly:

People kind of know me for that song now. I wanted to do a duet with a female. I thought that was a good song to do, and we really did a different arrangement of it. It’s a lot of strings, and it’s beautiful.

I know -- those of you on Team Anti-Paltrow are probably cringing right now and saying, "What the GOOP?! How could Gwyneth create something beautiful?!"

I actually don't mind her singing. Maybe it's more that I dig the character of Holly Holliday. She's just so COOL. And I love the fiery chemistry between Holly and Mr. Schue -- she's totally the foil to the exhaustingly goody-two-shoes Emma Pillsbury.

Given how saccharine it is, "Over the Rainbow" would probably would be better suited as a duet between Mr. Schue and Emma. But if you don't mind a sugar rush coming from Matthew with Gwyneth instead of Matthew with Jayma, you can own the digital version all for yourself tomorrow. Feel free to get all swoony-pants about Mr. Schue, while simultaneously cursing out Gwyneth for being so damn annoying.

Here's a teaser clip of the track. What do you think -- does Gwyneth's music career annoy you? Would you buy the Morrison-Paltrow duet version of "Over the Rainbow"?
