Elizabeth Taylor Death: Did It Curse Zsa Zsa Gabor?

Is it true that celebrity deaths happen in threes? Zsa Zsa Gabor seems to think so, because after learning of the death of her longtime friend Elizabeth Taylor, Gabor reportedly became inconsolable and said, "Oh, Jane Russell and Liz Taylor—I'm next."

Gabor's publicist says Gabor was so distraught over Taylor's death heralding her own impending demise, she was briefly hospitalized for high blood pressure.

Is it just me, or is this kind of a strange thing for a publicist to be sharing?

I mean, I don't really know how to say it without sounding awful, but ... well, Gabor IS 94 years old, and has been plagued with health problems for quite some time. I'm just saying, if she were to pass away (god forbid!), I wouldn't automatically think, Ooooohhh, celebrity death curse.

Her husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, also confirmed that Gabor became upset when she saw photos of Elizabeth Taylor on the news:

She was very upset when she saw her picture on television -- and it was all over television. Over the years, famous people always die in threes and she said, "Well, it's me now."

Oh dear. Poor Zsa Zsa. I'm sure she isn't quite in her right mind these days (back in February she was rushed to the hospital for internal bleeding, and she was unable to recognize her husband or doctor), but how sad to take a friend's death and become frightened that it means something bad for yourself.

Her publicist has scoffed at the idea that Gabor might be swept up in the Taylor-induced Celebrity Final Destination, saying, "She's not going to be the third."

Let's hope not, and maybe let's also hope her publicist does a better job of dismissing the superstition altogether. After all, someone will die next, at some point, and it's a pretty gross game to determine whether their celebrity status is high enough for them to be included with Elizabeth Taylor.
