Oksana Grigorieva to Stop at Nothing Less Than Revenge

oksana griogorieva mel gibsonOksana Grigorieva may have hit a setback this week in her domestic violence case against her ex, Mel Gibson. He entered a no contest plea to the charge of misdemeanor battery Friday and was sentenced to counseling and informal probation -- but managed to escape jail time.

Many thought this would be the end of the couple's very public drama, especially after news broke that Grigorieva's extortion charge was rejected. Nevertheless, Grigorieva's charging full steam ahead with her original plan. Her lawyer, Daniel Horowitz, told TMZ that she still plans to sue Gibson for battery, emotional distress, and defamation.

So how will Gibson's plea deal affect the civil suit?

At this point, it's unclear. Gibson maintains he's innocent -- save for striking her with an open hand during the Jan. 6 argument in which he claimed she was shaking their child, Lucia. But he pleaded no contest because he thought the deal was in the best interests of his children. While the plea bargain is the equivalent of guilty, it's still not a true admission of guilt. Therefore, it may not help Grigorieva in her civil lawsuit.

It's hard to know who to root for in this upsetting turn of events. On the one hand, domestic violence is a serious issue, and if Grigorieva's claims that Gibson punched her in the face, knocked out her teeth, etc. are true then he should have to face the consequences -- no matter how expensive. On the other, he entered the plea bargain in an effort to keep his family from having to endure a public trial -- yet, it looks like they will have to after all.

It seems like the drama between Gibson and Grigorieva will never end.

Do you think Oksana Grigorieva should continue with her plans to sue Gibson even though he's already been sentenced?
