Mike Huckabee Running for President ... of Annette Bening's Fan Club

Natalie Portman
Just shameful!
By now we've all had a chance to reflect on Mike Huckabee and his comments about Natalie Portman and her shameful out-of-wedlock pregnancy. Here are some of his more sensitive moments.

People see a Natalie Portman who boasts, 'We're not married, but we're having these children, and they're doing just fine' ... It's unfortunate that we glorify and glamorize the idea of out-of-wedlock children.

Most single moms are very poor, uneducated, can't get a job, and if it weren't for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death and never have health care. And that's the story that we're not seeing.

On the surface, it looks like Huckabee's got it out for single moms and Natalie Portman fans (that's pretty much the entire population). But I think what we're seeing here is misplaced anger. In other words, he may be complaining about Portman's bastard child, but that's not really what he's upset about.

Let's read between the lines, shall we?

I never miss a chance to psycho-analyze people who are not me! Here are the real reasons why Mike Huckabee is publicly slamming Natalie Portman -- and they have nothing to do with her being a single mom.*

Mike Huckabee thought Annette Bening should have won the Oscar for Best Actress: Mike, I feel your pain. Her portrayal of a lesbian mom was the most moving performance of the entire year.

He's jealous because he wanted to impregnate her himself: You and everyone else, Mike. Unfortunately, there aren't too many bad things we can say about her fiance -- yup, Mike, fiance -- Benjamin Millepied. He's sort of dreamy.

He's pissed because Natalie is getting more attention than Bristol: Looks like out-of-wedlock pregnancy has a new spokesperson, Mike. Get over it.

He's resentful because everyone loves Natalie Portman: Ask anyone on the street, they'll know who Natalie Portman is. Ask anyone on the street who Mike Huckabee is and you might get this reaction: "I dunno. Oh wait. He's that birther guy, right?" Not a good sign for someone who might be running for president in 2012.

At least now after his idiotic comments, a lot more people will know who he is -- but that might not exactly be a good thing.

Did you think Mike Huckabee's comments were offensive?

*Natalie Portman is engaged to the father of her child and, therefore, likely won't be a single mom. Obviously, Mike Huckabee does not have a subscription to People magazine -- do we really want such a miscreant as our President?
