Jimmy Buffett Injured: Latest Victim of Dangerous Singing Profession

cheeseburger in paradiseInstead of a cheeseburger in paradise, Jimmy Buffett is facing some hospital food after he fell off a stage during a concert in Australia last night. TMZ reports that the "Margaritaville" singer took a tumble after lights may have gotten in his eyes.

It was during "Lovely Cruise" when witnesses say there was a huge flash of light. He fell to the floor and struck his head on some metal on the way down. He was unconscious for 10-15 minutes and had a large cut on his head.

Fortunately, he's said to be in stable condition and is just in the hospital for observation, but wow. Who knew singing could be such a dangerous profession? Of course, Buffett certainly isn't the first singer to be injured while performing. It seems more and more singers are suffering similar fates on stage. Here are a few of those who have gone before him who should serve as a reminder to all to be careful out there:

This past summer the singer was hospitalized after falling from a harness while performing in Germany. Thankfully, she wasn't badly injured and even tweeted from the ambulance.

"To all my nurnberg fans- I am so so so sorry to end the show that way.I am embarassed and very sorry. I'm in ambulance now but I will b fine .... didn't get clipped in2 harness correctly, drug me off stage, fell in2 barricade. Getting xrays.I hope it at least looked cool!!!"

Katy Perry

Remember back in 2008 when Katy jumped onto a frosting-coated cake only to slip and slide all over the floor? She sustained no injuries, thankfully, but she could have done some real damage.

Billy Currington

Last summer, the country crooner suffered a concussion and a black eye after his stage collapsed while performing in Canada. One person was actually killed in the incident.

Justin Bieber

Back in 2009, J.B. broke his foot while performing on stage in London. Almost a year to the date later, he injured his knee while performing in Cleveland. Be careful, Justin!

Joe Jonas

In 2007, while performing his song "SOS," the brother tripped and cut his hand on broken glass from an exploded window. He didn't let it get in the way of the show though.

Steven Tyler

Though it was back in 2009 that he sustained injuries during an Aerosmith concert, it was only recently that he admitted the cause of his fall -- a Lunesta addiction. Yep, the sleeping drug. That could certainly do it.

Which stage injuries do you recall?
