Coachella 2011 Lineup: Guess What '80s Band Is Playing?

Rejoice, music fans! The bands contributing to the 12th Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival have finally been announced.

Indie rock denizens and mainstream fans alike are doubtlessly fawning over (and, inevitably, complaining about) the lineup, which includes Kanye West, Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Kings of Leon, Animal Collective, Robyn, Lauryn Hill, Cee Lo, Sleigh Bells, Erykah Badu, the National, Wiz Khalifa, Best Coast, Ariel Pink, the Black Keys, and PJ Harvey, just to name a few.

There was much speculation that Daft Punk would be one of the main attractions, especially since the French electro duo have gained so much attention for their recent Tron Legacy soundtrack, but sadly, they're missing from the lineup. Also a big part of the original rumor mill but not actually performing are the Beastie Boys.

So who's the surprise kitschy guest band most of us have fond big-hair, neon-hued memories of?

Dust off your Nagel prints: Duran Duran will be joining the fray this year. Girls on Film! Hungry Like the Wolf! Rio!

The three-day festival will officially kick off in Indio, California from April 15 to 17. Tickets go on sale Friday, January 21 at 1 p.m. EST. To see the complete, confirmed lineup and all additional details (like the $269 3-day ticket cost!), visit

Here's an interesting time-lapse video from last year's Coachella. Watching it confirms I am surely too old to attend this sort of thing, because OMG SO MANY PEOPLE AIEEEE.

Do you have plans to attend Coachella this year?
