Mila Kunis & Macaulay Culkin: Did 'Black Swan' Cause Their Split?

I had no idea former child star Macaulay Culkin and hottie Black Swan actress Mila Kunis were an item, and now that I've stumbled onto this intriguing bit of information, what can I do with it? Nothing, that's what, because they just broke up.

Kunis started dating Culkin seven years ago when she played "Jackie" in That '70s Show (trivia: she also does Meg's voice on Family Guy). She's said of their relationship, "We grew up together. You find a steady rock in your life and that’s all you need. We have our ups and downs, but work through them."

She had high praise for
Culkin, saying, "He's an amazing guy, who is probably the most brilliant person I've ever met. He's so, so smart and so aware and so kind."

Rumors spread a few years ago that the couple was engaged, which Kunis denied. She also took the opportunity to express her feelings about marriage: "Not to say that I don't believe in it, but it's just not something that's important to me."

Well, yeah, that can be true when you're all of 23 years old (she's 27 now).

A source said the couple went their separate ways some time ago but kept it low-key while Kunis promoted Black Swan. Kunis' rep confirms the breakup, saying, "The split was amicable, and they remain close friends."

So what happened to the happy couple? Other than the Hollywood Breakup Curse of Aught-Ten, that is?

Maybe it's the eternal A-lister problem of having the spotlight shining more brightly on one half of the couple. Kunis is enjoying quite a bit of success as the result of Black Swan, while
Culkin's career has been relatively quiet lately, aside from a part on the canceled TV show Kings.

Kunis also embarked on a punishing personal fitness regime for Black Swan, which sent her weight down to 95 pounds. Her preparation for the role was so intense, she reportedly restricted herself to a 1,200-calorie-a-day diet and attended daily, four-hour ballet lessons. You have to assume that would be tough on a relationship—not only for the time commitments, but the inevitable personality changes it would bring about.

Starving people can be a little crabby, is all I'm saying.

Whatever the reason, it's too bad to hear such a long-lasting young couple couldn't make it work. Especially when you consider how
Culkin probably gave hope to goony-looking guys everywhere that they, too, could someday land a gorgeous young starlet.

Do you think Black Swan had anything to do with this breakup?
