Snooki and Her New Year Hamster Ball Stunt Moves to (Where Else?) Jersey

A tragedy was narrowly avoided today when Seaside Heights, New Jersey, agreed to host an MTV New Year's stunt featuring Snooki and a presumably rather large, moisture-resistant ball of some kind.

Plans originally called for Snooki to placed inside a ball and lowered in Times Square during the official countdown to 2011, but the people staffing the official-sounding Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment apparently decided that continuing to prop up the grinning corpse of Dick Clark for his "Rockin' New Year's Eve" show was enough horror for one night.

The groups issued a (hilarious) statement that put the kibosh on Snooki, saying,

It was never intended or requested for Snooki to be in the actual New Year’s Eve Ball in Times Square. The request to have her in a separate ball on a set-back roof came too late and was too impractical to fit in to our outdoor events.

A stunt featuring a surely-drunk-off-her-ass chick in a giant hamster ball too impractical? Whatever, Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment. Haters gonna hate.

Diane Stabley, a Seaside Heights borough clerk, has reluctantly confirmed that Seaside Heights approved MTV’s application for a permit there on Wednesday, and that preparations were already under way to construct Ms. Polizzi’s "descending ball apparatus" at the Jersey Shore house. Stabley told a New York Times reporter, “She’s going to come out and do whatever she’s supposed to do, and that’s it.”

Ms. Stabley added, awesomely, “She’s just everywhere.”

MTV issued its own statement, which sounds suspiciously like The Situation is suddenly manning its PR efforts:

We love our Times Square home and while we’re disappointed there won’t be a Snooki ball drop there, she cannot be denied! So we’re taking a road trip to the place where it all began, Seaside Heights, and droppin’ it all there.

Well, friends, tell me. Will you be watching Snooki droppin' it all on New Yearts Eve?
