Neil Patrick Harris: Surprising Twitter Rage?

harris Neil Patrick Harris had a bone to pick with The Young and the Restless actor Eric Braeden and chose to air his anger in 140 characters or less.

Braeden was due to appear on How I Met Your Mother and backed out at the last minute, citing health issues and exhaustion. Oh -- and yeah, the part wasn't big enough.

After discovering that Braeden bailed, the HIMYM star angrily took his grievances to Twitter:

Eric Braeden is a D-Bag. the actor, (Robin's dad) agreed to a cameo, then last night bailed, saying the part wasn't 'substantial' enough.

Ouch. Them's fightin' words, Harris!

Braeden responded through the Hollywood Reporter:

It was utterly inappropriate. He's a little boy.

Oh snap! Will the Twitterverse ever recover? I mean, D-bag? Little boy?

Harris eventually tweeted an apology and Braeden subsequently issued a pompous response through the traditional press.

But I've no doubt that the majority of his followers missed the end result because frankly they were probably fast asleep.

My advice to NPH: Twitter is a very public social tool. If you want to feud and involve all your fans, do it right. Boring won't cut it. Look to Perez Hilton for pointers: He's verbally scuffled with countless celebs and it's never, ever boring. Picking on an older man with a bad hip is not only not cool, it's an out-and-out snooze fest.

If you're going to have a Twitter fight, do it with someone who's at least interesting to anyone under 75. Like 50 Cent. Or one of the Real Housewives. The Situation, perhaps. Honestly, a smack-down with Alex Trebek would have been far more interesting.

Please. Step up, NPH -- or risk boring your many fans to death.

Which would you rather do? Read NPH's biting tweets or read the phone book?
