Debbie Flores Narvaez: Victim of a Deranged Fan?

Debbie Flores-NarvaezWhere is Debbie Flores-Narvaez? The 31-year-old was reported missing more than a week ago after she failed to show up for her job as a go-go dancer in the Luxor hotel's adult show Fantasy. Now the question is if she was some crazy fan's fantasy who has done her harm.

Her family says it's not like her to go missing, that she wouldn't just take off without letting anyone know. A former cheerleader for the Washington Redskins with law and finance degrees, Flores-Narvaez left that all behind to follow her dreams of dancing in Las Vegas. By all accounts she was happy and living the life she wanted to be living -- not someone to willingly leave it.

Friend and fellow dancer, Deon Ridley, told Good Morning America that Flores-Narvaez had talked before about her fear of obsessed fans.

"Being in the industry that she's in, being in a burlesque show, it's very risqué for any female in Las Vegas. Her safety is very important," her partner said.

But people she knows haven't been ruled out either. Flores-Narvaez was apparently last seen going to the home of her ex-boyfriend Blu Griffith, and, of course, speculation always focuses on love interests when someone goes missing.

"He told me that she said she’s been depressed for the past couple of days because it was the holidays and she wasn’t around her family," Celeste Flores-Narvaez, Debbie's sister, told Fox News. "Debbie was kind of private when it came to her personal life, but I understand from almost all her friends that her relationship with Blu made her upset a lot."

So many questions, so few answers. But one of the questions cases like this always raises is why do some capture the attention of the media and thereby the public when thousands of people go missing every day in this country? Does one have to have a sexy career or sensational headline potential to get people to care?

Regardless, I hope the publicity her case is garnering helps bring her home safely. Anyone with information about Debbie Flores-Narvaez's whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
