Grammy Nominations Get It Right With Eminem, Wrong With Perry

The 2011 Grammy Award Nominations were announced last night and it looks like the show might belong to Eminem and not (please God) Katy Perry.

Not only is he up for Album of the Year for Recovery, he is also up for Record of the Year for "Love the Way You Lie" with Rihanna for a total of 10 nominations.

Not bad for a guy said to be making a "comeback."

The nominees were announced last night during the CBS' Grammy Nominations Concert Live event hosted by LL Cool J, with performances from Justin Bieber, Miranda Lambert, and, of course, since she's apparently everywhere now, Katy Perry.

Really? Katy Perry? She is everywhere -- on Sesame Street, the Victoria's Secret Show, and now this. And it gets worse ...

She also got nods for Album of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for Teenage Dream. Other nominees for Album of the Year besides Perry and Em are Arcade Fire's The Suburbs, Lady Antebellum's Need You Now, and The Fame Monster from Lady Gaga.

Maybe they were just being nice, but seeing Katy Perry on the same list with Eminem just depresses me. Some of her songs are catchy, but the beat that sounded awesome in June -- hello "California Gurls" -- is like breaking glass in December. She's a blip, a flash in the pan, someone we will hate in a few years.

But oh yes, give that girl a Grammy.

Other nominees for Best Record include B.o.B.'s "Nothin' on You," which is going up against Jay-Z & Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind," Cee-Lo's "F*** You," and "Need You Now" from Lady Antebellum.

Meanwhile, Gleeks can rest easy, the show was not forgotten. "Don't Stop Believin'" got a nod for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group and also for Best Compilation Soundtrack. They have some stiff competition from Treme and Crazy Heart, but my money is on Glee
