Judge Sucks Up to Chris Brown Post-Rihanna Beating

Apparently Rihanna's abusive ex Chris Brown has been totally rocking his legal consequences, you guys. The R&B singer is almost done with his required domestic violence counseling, and he's completed 73 of 180 days of community service.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg was so impressed with Brown's work she took the time to praise him during a progress report on Thursday:

"Out of thousands of probationers, no one has done a better or more consistent job than you have, and I really want to commend you for taking responsibility and for actually working diligently to complete all the things the court has required of you."

Did I say "praise him"? Oh because I meant "pointlessly and thoroughly tongue-kiss his ass."

Look, it's not that I don't think he can be rehabilitated. I'm sure he's been working hard to get this behind him, and dutifully showing up for all his litter-removal jobs and so on.

It's just, hey, that's what he's supposed to be doing. He was convicted of felony assault, for god's sake. You pay the price for committing a crime, and most people don't get a freaking gold star for doing what the court orders them to do.

Should he really be publicly commended for partially fulfilling a court sentence he received for beating the living shit out of his then-girlfriend? I don't think so. The best way for Chris Brown to earn back the public's respect should be by showing everyone he's a changed man, and that takes time.

Do you think this judge's comment was inappropriate?
