Kelsey Grammer's Girlfriend's Miscarriage Triggers Hateful Comments

Kelsey Grammer and girlfriend Kayte Walsh revealed in August that they were expecting their first child together. On Saturday, they issued the sad statement that Kayte had suffered a miscarriage six weeks ago.

While most celebrity couples would be receiving nothing but sympathy for such a traumatic event, Grammer and Walsh are currently the subject of a growing collection of unpleasant comments on the website alone.

A few examples:

If you don't want bad things to happen to you, then don't do bad things to other people -- like cheating on your wife!

Time for a snip job Kelsey.

Harsh this may sound but at least his poor young children have time to come to terms with their parents separation and this young woman to reflect upon the damage she has done to them -- sometimes divine intervention is a blessing.

Since he left his wife for her, you never know if it she was actually pregnant. Just sayin'.

I think God didn't want that poor baby born into a relationship He knew was ridiculous and would never last.

God works in mysterious ways. Not so here. Retribution.

I could keep copying and pasting, but I think you get the picture. It's more than a little depressing.

Grammer, 55, hasn't exactly been known for his fidelity over the years. He has two children from his first marriage, another daughter conceived out of wedlock while he was married to his second wife, and a fourth child with his third wife. He had a very public divorce at the beginning of the summer, after his wife Camille Donatacci supposedly discovered he had impregnated Kayte Walsh.

Whether or not Grammer has been a philandering douchebag in his past, I can't begin to understand how this gives some people the right to say such incredibly cruel things about the death of a child. I've seen some incredibly rude things on the Internet over the years, but this is just one of those things that makes you wonder what on earth is happening to society. Are we growing more cold-hearted and hateful, or is the anonymity provided by website comments sections just letting us look at what was always there?

Kelsey and Kayte, on the off chance you happen to be reading, I'm so sorry for your loss.
