Kendra Wilkinson Did Drugs, Stripped as a Teen, But 'Wasn't a Druggie Stripper'

Kendra Wilkinson BookIn her new book Sliding Into Home, Kendra Wilkinson discusses her troubled past that included using meth and stripping as a teenager. Through it all though, she says she remained a "good person."

"I was a good person doing it. It wasn't like I was a druggie stripper," she said in an interview with Today. "I always knew that was wrong. I kind of lost myself for a little bit."

She begins the book by talking about her first encounter with Hugh Hefner and how she became his girlfriend, then uses that as a springboard to discuss the less-than-shiny aspects of her life.

"While the show may have opened the door to a charmed life and eventually helped me discover what I really wanted, the reality is, it didn't come easy," she writes. "I wasn't just sitting around deciding which family business to take over when I got that call from Hef. I didn't just trade in one perfect life for another. It's been an uphill battle, and while life is great -- almost perfect, even -- right now, before I can talk about the best of times, I need to tell you about the worst ..."

And the worst was pretty bad. She said she started drugs at age 13 and has previously revealed she was suicidal. She credits a terrifying cocaine experience with helping her get her life back.

"I was bleeding from every hole in my body and I really thought I was going to die that night," she said. "But you know what, I survived, and I swear it was a couple of days after that that I had an epiphany. I just stopped drugs, stopped smoking cigarettes, stopped everything, and went home."

Wilkinson's book promises to provide lots of the dirty details of nights with Hef, as well as insight into their emotional relationship. One area the book doesn't touch is her sex tape.

From the excerpt I read, I find Wilkinson's writing frank, funny, and engaging, though I agree with Michele that the cover and title are awful. Still, I'm intrigued ...
