sargent art recallIf you and the kids are about to embark on a craft project this weekend, check your supplies before you begin. Sargent Art, maker of popular craft paints sold at Walmart, Amazon, and Hobby Lobby, announced a recall of 2.8 million units after discovering that the paints may be contaminated with bacteria.

The bacteria was found during routine testing and does not pose a risk to healthy people but could adversely impact those whose immune systems may be compromised as they could be at risk for a bacterial infection.

The recall includes 13 different types of paints, which were manufactured and distributed between May 2015 and June 10, 2016. While no injuries have been reported thus far, consumers who've purchased the following products should stop using them immediately, dispose of them, or return them for a refund.

Even if you don't have the products in your home, they may be at your child's school, so be sure teachers and staff are aware of the recall as well.

We all know kids adore their arts and crafts time and it's really scary to possibly put our budding artists at risk for illness. Especially when you think of finger paints, you want them to be as non-toxic as possible as we all know little guys and gals don't always take their time washing their hands -- particularly if they're moving on to another exciting subject.
