Taking vitamins, Nature Made vitamin recall

You woke up, and just as you nearly stormed out of the house, you remembered to grab your multivitamin for the day. It's a rinse-and-repeat, mundane type of task -- except for today, as we advise you to step away from the vita-bottle ... specifically various types of Nature Made vitamins and supplements, because they've been recalled due to potential Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus contamination.

The Nature Made products that have been called into question are for purchase at just about any of your local pharmacies and drugstores -- from CVS to Duane Reade and Walgreens.

According to Pharmavite's press release, the items listed below have been recalled by Nature Made's parent company due to "an abundance of caution," as the company notified retailers nationwide to remove batches of these products from their shelves after discovering that testing for Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus was not properly completed.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Salmonella and staph bacteria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections.

From what we can tell, no one has yet to publicly come forward with either of these illnesses in relation to the recall of any of the products, but better safe than sorry when it comes to avoiding products from the following lots and returning them to stores.
