Mom's Selfie With Bison Came Moments Before Animal Attacked Her (VIDEO)

selfie with bisonThis could have been the last photo taken of Brandi Burgess with her daughter. The Flora, Mississippi, family was visiting Yellowstone National Park when they saw a bison and decided to take a selfie. Big mistake. The bison attacked her.

I know what you are thinking. Why in the heck did she risk her life like that?!? It's easy for us to say as we sit behind our computers. While I do think I would be scared out of my pants if I saw a bison approaching me, I would also want to take photos. Though putting my back to that beast? No way. I'm the kind of person who gets scared on kiddie rides at the amusement park. My 5-year-old is braver than I am when it comes to killing bugs (sorry, I mean catching and releasing, of course).

A park official said that those roaming Yellowstone are cautioned to stay at least 25 yards away from bison. These two got too close and the bison charged at Brandi, tossing her in the air. As she flipped, her daughter couldn't do anything but watch. Brandi called it the "most frightening experience I have been through in my life to date."

She was taken to the hospital and treated for lacerations. I bet she had a bison burger after. Just because.
