3 Grandsons Killed in House Fire While Visiting Their Grandmother for Christmas

Three young boys were killed in a tragic fire that took place at their grandmother's house in Fayette County, Ohio, the morning after Christmas Day. Kenyon, 14, Broderick, 11, and Braylon, 9, sounded like dream children who chose to spend the night with the grandmother, Terry Harris, 60, because they didn't want her to be alone on the holiday. What happened to their family next is the stuff of nightmares.

The children reportedly lived two houses away from their grandmother and wanted to keep her company. At around 4 a.m. on Dec. 26, the woman's single-story home became consumed by flames. Detectives are still trying to figure out the cause of the fire.

Harris's body was reportedly found near her front door and the three boys were in close proximity to her. Police believe the grandmother was trying to get her grandsons to safety but that they didn't have enough time to get out of the house before they were badly burned in the blaze.

Of course there are no words to describe the pain that must be felt by all members of this family and tight-knit community. Fayette County Sheriff Vernon Stanforth released the following statement, which just makes your heart ache: "They didn't want their grandma to be by herself on Christmas night; that's why they spent the night there. The children just adored their grandmother."
