Crowded Subway Erupts In Cheers When Cops Help Deliver Christmas Baby (VIDEO)

baby born on train christmas

One of the more undesirable places to give birth would be on a crowded subway train, but as my doula warned me Baby is going to arrive when baby is ready. So we can't always plan these things. One baby showed Mama just that when he decided that it was time to be born on a crowded Philadelphia subway train on Christmas day. There's video of the chaotic and yet beautiful scene on the SEPTA.

Not everyone is calm during birth -- this we know. Hassan Malik (aka Sunny Ali) was on the subway when this woman started going into labor. It was reported that El train riders heard a woman screaming and moaning but were unaware of the miracle that was about to happen. Until it she made it very clear to her husband and everyone on the train that BABY IS COMING, AND HE'S COMING NOW!!!!

And that's when magical things started happening. Her husband was by her side and he had help from other passengers to have her lay down across the seats to be more comfortable. Another passenger cradled her head. The train went into the 15th and Market stop in Philly and that's when Transit Police Sgt. Daniel Caban and Officer Dorrell James were alerted that a woman on the train was in labor. Go time! By the time they got there, the Christmas baby was making his appearance. Passenger Malik said the little guy just "popped into their hands." Ah! If only all births were this effortless. Perhaps there is something to this birthing on a crowded subway? The passengers cheered! They cried! They all rejoiced in the beauty of life, a birth, new hope! Happiness!

Mom, baby, and dad were taken to the hospital and everyone is doing well. They even named the baby Chris -- a nod to Christmas. What an incredible gift! And what a wild event for all who were on the subway to experience. Happy birth day, Chris!

Do you think you would have sprung into action to help this mom give birth?
