Another Teen Shot by Police Officer Near Ferguson, Missouri (VIDEO)

Another police shooting is sparking unrest near Ferguson, Missouri today, as police say an officer shot a black 18-year-old man who appears to have raised his arm at the officer before being shot. Although video evidence is inconclusive according to some reports, police say that the man had a gun in his hand. But that isn't stopping some residents from protesting the shooting, nor the teen's mother from disputing the cops' account.

The unnamed officer, a six-year veteran of the force, responded to a call about a theft near a Mobil gas station Berkeley, Missouri, just a few miles from where Michael Brown was shot. Video shows him pulling up to the gas station and confronting two males, one of whom appears to pull a gun on him. The officer shot back three times, hitting and killing Antonio Martin.

While initial reports from witnesses at the scene said the teen was unarmed and that an ambulance was never called, Police Chief Jon Belmar said at a press conference early Wednesday morning that the teen was pointing a gun at the officer. Belmar said:

It didn't have to end with him approaching the officer with his arm extended with a 9mm pistol in his hand.

The gun was found at the scene, and had reportedly been "defaced," meaning it was stolen and its identification wiped out.

The chief also said there was no indication that the two men were involved in the robbery the cop was responding to.

Martin's mother, Toni, disputes the cops' account, and says that her son was walking with his girlfriend to the store and that he was shot as he was "trying to get up and run."

She also denies he had a gun. It's unclear if Toni has seen the surveillance video.

A group of about 100 protestors quickly gathered at the scene and police say at least three explosives -- probably fireworks -- were detonated.Four arrests were made.

It remains to be seen if the grainy video will completely back up the officers' account of what happened, and if that will do anything to ease tensions between police and civilians in the area. Questions do remain. Why did the cop approach the men if they had nothing to do with the theft? Why would a teen immediately reach for a gun when an officer is merely talking to him?

Whatever happened, Martin's mother is devastated and a life was lost.
