3-Year-Old Abandoned at Mall, Police Searching for Parents (PHOTO)

audrey missing girl

This little girl with the sweet smile is named Audrey and police are searching for her parents. Yesterday, Audrey was with a woman at The Grove, a mall in the Fairfax section of Los Angeles. At around 6 p.m. yesterday, this woman dropped the 3-year-old off with her car seat at the Valley parking area. The parking attendants noticed the girl was left alone for too long a time and so they called police.

The LAPD have released this photo of the girl only known as Audrey -- she doesn't know her last name and is too young to provide any other details to help the police. Authorities had hoped there was some sort of mistake, but as time is passing, it's becoming more worrisome and so they have reached out to the public for help on finding this girl's parents or guardians.

I hope this is just a terrible case of a misunderstanding, but without word from the woman who dropped her off, it's becoming more and more alarming that perhaps this child was truly abandoned. We can make guesses as to the circumstances, but what we do have to hold onto is that fact that Audrey is smiling, she seems unhurt and in good health, and she is in good hands and being cared for as the investigation continues. Still, it must be terrifying for this little girl. She, as all children, deserve to feel loved and wanted. I'm so happy that she was found and kept safe.

If you recognize Audrey, please contact the police. She was found wearing a pink shirt and purple pants. Call LAPD’s Wilshire Area watch commander at 213-473-0476. During non-business hours or on weekends, please call 877-527-3247. If you wish to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.

Do you think Audrey's parents could be looking for her, too?
