Woman Finds Shocking Insult in Bank's Credit Card Offer (PHOTO)

pile of junk mailJust a couple of weeks after news broke that a man received junk mail addressed to "Daughter Killed in Car Crash," a freelance writer named Lisa McIntire experienced something equally as bizarre. Her mom received a Bank of America credit card offer mailer for her daughter recently, addressed to "Lisa Is a Slut McIntire." Whaaaa?!

Being the social media guru that she is, Lisa took to Twitter to tweet a picture of the letter and ask for an explanation yesterday, writing, "I don't know what is going on, but having my mom receive mail addressed to 'Lisa Is a Slut McIntire' is wildly not acceptable." No kidding!

Here's the envelope ...

Turns out, her name was actually altered in the records of the Golden Key Honor Society, which was partnering with the bank on the offer. Upon looking through the database, a rep for Golden Key told McIntire the "name change" took place between 2004 and 2008. McIntire's tongue-in-cheek response:

So it's possible that I've been sluttin' it up in a honor society's database for almost 10 years. They haven't been able to pinpoint how 'Is A Slut' became my middle name, but they're still investigating.

Okay then! Looks like she's willing to forgive and forget pretty quickly, which I understand being the reaction if it was just a weird but harmless prank. But eh, something about it still rubs me the wrong way. It's unnerving, sexist, strange, and considering what she does for a living -- write for "many Democratic officials and surrogates, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Pres. Bill Clinton, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, Donna Brazile, and Sandra Fluke," according to her website -- I wouldn't be surprised if she was actually being targeted by someone who isn't thrilled with her political leanings.

That thought has had to have crossed her mind, right? And in turn, this investigation is ongoing and taken seriously, because as McIntire said, prank or mistake, what happened here is simply not acceptable.

How would you react if this happened to you?
