Veterans Day doesn't get the pomp and circumstance of some other official US holidays. But every year on November 11, we as Americans take the time to recognize the heroes among us. They are the men and women who served in any branch of our armed forces. They are the veterans of the United States military. And for all that they have done and sacrificed for the rest of us, we are forever grateful.

Perhaps many families are celebrating this Veterans Day at a local parade for veterans or by being of service to veterans in need in the community. However we choose to celebrate the day, let us all do our best to recognize those who have served, as well as their families: give time or money where possible, give personal thanks whenever able, and tell their stories. Their stories -- of success and of struggle -- are so very important to our country's history and our every day.
