Husband Mistakenly Sells Wife's $23K Engagement Ring While She's in the Hospital With Their New Baby (VIDEO)

Engagement Ring LostA husband in California is having some major regrets this week after selling his wife's $23,000 engagement ring for $10 in a garage sale held while she was in the hospital giving birth to their fifth child. OOPS.

The incredibly sad story took place on June 1, and while the couple is offering a reward for the return of the ring, they aren't holding out too much hope. Apparently, Racquel Cloutier, 31, of Laguna Niguel, California, put the ring in a watch box before she went into the hospital and her husband sold the box. It's almost like "The Gift of the Magi" by O Henry. Here is this woman giving her family the ultimate gift (a new baby) while losing one of her most precious ones (the ring her husband gave her before they started their family).

No matter how many new rings he buys her, nothing can replace this one. See below:

Of course, it isn't just the ring in question, beautiful as it is. It's also the sentimental value, which far, far surpasses $23K. That is what is most at stake here.

Whoever found the ring probably thought they got massively lucky. But they need to return it. It's the only right thing to do. It's actually hard to imagine doing anything different. How could anyone keep something like this if they found it? How cold and heartless can you be?

The ring may be worth a lot of money to the person who "bought" it, but it's worth 1,000 times that to the family from whom she bought it. It's not hers and she knows it.

My heart goes out to this new mom who has enough problems without dealing with this. Hopefully she gets the ring back soon.

Would you return a ring you "bought" this way?
