Toy Store Employee Sues Ex-Boss for Acting Like a Christian Grey From Hell

toy storeFor many fans of Fifty Shades of Grey, there's a tendency to idealize the agreement Christian Grey encourages the oh-so-innocent Anastasia Steele to join him in. But clearly, not all relationship agreements in which power play is involved are healthy or even legal!

For example, take what allegedly happened at a children's toy store on New York City's Upper East Side. A woman named Amanda Reyes is suing her former, married, 60-something boss, Steven Reis, with whom she had a "master-slave sex relationship." Amanda was hired in December 2010, but it wasn't until this relationship began in March 2012 that she was promoted to store manager, the lawsuit says. And the "agreement" the two had sounds like it was more about twisted manipulation and control than anything romantic ...

Reyes' attorneys say their client was “forced to engage in an ongoing sexual relationship” with Reis, which “included increasing acts of ‘rough’ sexual activities, including hitting, slapping, and biting,” in exchange for employment and rent. Apparently, Reyes, who has a young daughter, "felt totally and completely manipulated and taken advantage of." Wow ...

Reyes claims she tried to break things off when she started dating a new man -- who happens to work for the NYPD! -- but Reis demanded she “meet twice a week for those sexual encounters” and refused to take no for an answer. As a result, she was fired. What. A. Nightmare.

I can't help but think that there had to have been some gray (no pun intended) area here. Perhaps what Reyes and Reis agreed to in the first place was more than Reyes bargained for. Or maybe things spiraled out of control. Maybe she legitimately felt pressured or straight-up manipulated into beginning the arrangement in the first place. Either way, if things really did play out as described in the suit, it sounds like it turned into a horror story for Reyes ... and something NO employee ever in a million years should have to endure.

Just goes to show that when both parties aren't completely on the same page, power play in sex can be anything but sexy.

What do you make of this?
