KonyWhat is wrong with some people? Is it mental illness? Evil? Grand Thief Auto? We may never know what goes on the minds of men that throw decent human behavior out the window and hurt, assault, or even kill their victims.

Whatever made them do it; there were a lot of bad dudes in the news in 2012. From a philandering general to a psycho child murderer, the span of bad behavior is all over the evil spectrum. Here’s hoping for a shorter list in 2013.

  • David Petraeus

General David Patraeus resigned as the Director of the CIA after evidence came to light of his affair with his biographer Paula Broadwell … by Jill Kelley, another woman he was close to. Awkward!

  • Secret Service Man Sluts

In April 11 Secret Service agents were suspended after the claims surfaced that they’d hired prostitutes in Cartagena, Colombia. In June, the U.S. government discovered that they had not only been involved with prostitutes, but also leaking sensitive information, publishing pornography, sexual assault, illegal wiretaps, improper use of weapons, and drunken behavior. Oops.

  • Joseph Kony

The leader of the Lord's Resistance Army Joseph Kony is an indicted mass murderer is hiding out in the Congo avoiding the long arm of the law but he can't hide from YouTube. In 2012, Kony was the target of an extremely successful viral campaign calling out his atrocities to hundreds of millions of people around the world. This notorious thug's days seem numbered.

  • Bobby Petrino

Bobby Petrino was fired as the coach of the University of Arkansas football team after details escaped about his affair with 25-year-old Jessica Dorrell. He also gave her $20,000 in cash. And sent steamy texts -- on game days. Keep your head in the game, man.

  • Bashir al-Assad

Syrian ruler Bashar al-Assad has a penchant for stamping out political opposition. By killing people -- including children on playgrounds. In February 2012, the United Nations General assembly condemned President Assad for "gross human rights violations."

  • Josh Powell

Two years after his wife went mysteriously missing, Josh Powell used a hatchet on the couple's two young sons before killing them all in a fiery explosion. Sick sick sick.

  • Jerry Sandusky

Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was found guilty of 45 counts of child sexual abuse with 10 boys over a 15-year period. When he got to prison, he was serenaded by the other inmates singing Pink Floyd’s Another Brick in the Wall, with emphasis on the line, “Hey, teacher, leave those kids alone!”

  • James Holmes

Last summer, psychopath James Holmes shot up a movie theatre full of people viewing the midnight premiere of Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, CO. He killed 12 people, but was charged with 24 counts of murder. I’m ok with that.

  • Adam Lanza

This is still fresh in our minds. Adam Lanza deserves a special place in hell for killing all those babies at Sandy Hook Elementary. Not to mention the teachers, administrators, and his own mother.
