I am a writer and occasional editor. My work has appeared in Better Homes & Gardens, First for WomenWoman's World, AOL, YourTango, and various other publications. Interests include holistic health and fitness, reading, pop culture, jewelry, summer, and cooking with lots of veggie and spices. I've lived in Chicago, Boston, London, L.A. and Manhattan and now reside in north NJ with my Jersey boy husband. In our free time, we frequent BYOB spots, buy overpriced produce (but it's so pretty!) at Whole Foods, and do bizarrely huge loads of laundry.

As far as we've come and as many Sex & the City episodes as we've all watched and Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey sex scenes we've read, the topic of female masturbation -- heck, women's sexuality! -- still is frustratingly firmly filed under the "taboo." And there are recent, as in published in 2013, articles and studies about how ladies actually watch and LIKE porn, too. (OMG! Gasp! Huh?!) Srsly?!

Seems as though, like it or not, there is still a lot of discomfort surrounding the idea of women going solo, so it's no wonder one has taken matters into her own, err, ahem, hands ...

Amy Adams has been getting a lot of press for her role as Lois Lane in the new hit flick Man of Steel. So quizzing her about all things related to latest production of the iconic story makes perfect sense ... On the other hand, talking about her weight and diet and Hollywood's body dysmorphia that pervades Hollywood? Makes no sense at all. That didn't stop her from going there with Allure in a recent interview.

Apparently, Amy made some kind of remark about her Lois Lane being "a little chubby" around the middle (ooookay?). Which lead to discussing showbiz's unrealistic standards and how holding herself to them is a habit she's trying to break. Then she went onto say something bound to make you roll your eyes ...

Kanye West has delivered ... his new album, Yeezus. And to promote the project, which is filled with misogynistic, controversial lyrics, the new father's got a new promo that's a play on a flick with misogynistic, controverisal themes: American Psycho. As if that wasn't enough to pique your interest, Kanye's cast Scott Disick as the Patrick Bateman-esque character and Jonathan Cheban in the place of Patrick's colleague, Paul Allen. And yes, it's as insane, horrible, laughable, and horrifying as you might imagine.

I have to be honest -- like many others, I've always seen Scott Disick as Patrick Bateman! If anyone were to attempt to reprise Christian Bale's performance as the sex-, murder-, and Huey Lewis-obsessed investment banker, it would be his lookalike Scott, right? But OMG, that assumption neglects to acknowledge one major thing ...

Three years ago, U.S. Marine Alex Minsky probably never expected he'd be standing in front of a camera wearing nothing more than a pair of boxer briefs and a smile. He was serving in Afghanistan when a roadside bomb exploded nearby. He lost his leg -- and ended up in a coma for 47 days. His mother, Jackie Minsky, says his brain was "basically disconnected" and his body was covered in burns. But in a miraculous turn of events, his brain slowly "came back online," as his mom puts it.

Minsky earned a Purple Heart, but struggled to recover. Though he eventually walked again, he found himself contending with a drinking problem triggered by depression and wanting to escape. Then, one day, he had a run-in with fate ...

A number of disturbing photos out of fast food restaurants have hit the web recently, and this latest one -- and the story attached to it -- is no less crazy. The pic was posted on Reddit by a user claiming to be an employee of the Five Guys burger joint chain and featured moldy lemons, along with a description that read, "My manager just forced me to serve these lemons so that we don't 'waste money.'" Whoa, right?

Not only is that a really bold accusation, but if it's true, it's thoroughly worrisome -- not just to patrons of Five Guys, but to anyone who dines out at a restaurant that may be secretly attempting to cut corners in a dangerous way ... like by serving moldy foods, which can lead to serious health conditions.
