Shari Altman is a freelance writer, farm intern, and photographer living in rural Vermont. She's currently an Extension Master Gardener intern. She co-curates the online inspiration journal, this joy+ride and collaborates with one of her favorite artists on the photography project, What Remains Inside. Shari lives in rural Vermont with her husband, two cats, and two beehives. Baking, nature walks, and good books fill up her spare time.

HGTV 'Design Star' Finale Recap: Michael vs. Emily

It's all come down to this. Emily from Portland, Oregon vs. Michael from New York City. In the final challenge, Emily and Michael must choose one of their previous Design Star competitors (yes, there's a little Nina in this episode for all of you fans) to be their client. Then, they must design an apartment that reflects their client's personality while also shooting a television segment based on their own design show idea.

Both Emily and Michael have great personality and loads of style, but only one will win their own television show on HGTV. Who will be the next Design Star? Quirky Emily? Enthusiastic Michael? It's time to find out.

HGTV 'Design Star' Recap: The Glass House Challenge

It's the Design Star final three: Casey, Michael, and Emily! This week the designers were finally able to show their stuff as they worked individually to design a sunroom that incorporated their own personal style as well as the concept for their own design show.
