Fans React With Perfect Execution When an Olympic Gymnast Is Body-Shamed

ALexa Moreno Mexican gymnast body shamed You'd think that an Olympic gymnast would be immune to disparaging remarks about her figure. Sadly, even being a world-class athlete doesn't insulate you. Alexa Moreno, 22, has been the victim of relentless body-shaming despite her incredible abilities. Thankfully, Twitter erupted as fans clapped back at haters who attempted to tear down this woman at the peak of her career.

You'd think that when you're able to rock a balance beam and conquer the parallel bars you'd be recognized as an amazing athlete and a role model. You'd imagine people would focus on your skills rather than your frame. Sadly, that wasn't the case.

Translation of the tweet above: "The Mexican gymnast Alexa Moreno in her second jump. The pig was already eliminated."

Are you kidding?? Yet, it gets worse.

Translation: "Alexa Moreno has the body of two gymnasts together, a diet before going to the Olympics would have been nice."

Seriously, what is wrong with these people? We're not the only ones who think it's beyond out of line to attack this healthy and incredibly talented young woman. Twitter fans had her back. Check it out:

Amen to that!

It makes you wonder, as a woman, what do you need to achieve to be seen as more than just body parts?

Fortunately, it sounds like Moreno shouldn't have any trouble shaking off these idiotic comments as she's just as strong mentally as she is physically. In July, the pint-size powerhouse told CCTV:

Gymnastics is a sport for strong people. You need to be dedicated, have a strong will and lots of persistency. I don't stop until I have reached my goals ... You need to believe in yourself and fight to be able to do things no one has ever done before.

We wish Moreno all the best as she pursues her dreams and continues to be an outstanding role model for young women across the globe.
