scared womanAn old home has many secrets, and sometimes those secrets can wake you up in the middle of the night. Who is she and what does she want?

Throughout the month of October, the year's spookiest month, we'll be sharing real-life scary stories. These are not made-up tales told around the campfire. They are real deal, first-person accounts told in the victim's own words. Keep reading if you dare ...

“I lived in a very old home that had been converted to apartments when I was in college. I lived in the basement studio walkout apartment that was originally the kitchen and servants'/maids' quarters.

"There was something about the front entry to the building that always made me feel uneasy. It was once a grand foyer covered in gorgeous oak details and a grand staircase -- I had to walk to the back of the building through the foyer to get to the maids' staircase that led to my apartment and that staircase was CREEEEPY.

"One particular night, it was like 3 a.m. and my husband (boyfriend at the time) and I were sleeping, and my cat was on the bed with us. Suddenly there was a LOUD sound like a woman sighing. My cat jumped up and ran away from the sound towards the windows and was spazzing out, bouncing from windowsill to windowsill to under the chairs.

"Charlie and I bolted up out of bed and I asked, 'Did you hear that?!' and he said, 'YEAH!' And because I wanted to make sure I wasn't still dreaming or fabricating the whole event or the sound in my head, I asked, 'What did you hear?' And he said, 'A loud-ass woman sighing in the front entryway!" and I was like, 'Ugh, FFFFFFFF!!!! Me too ... ' We jumped up and he looked in the hallway and areas outside of my front entry area, and I looked outside to see if there was anyone out in the yard ... nope.

"Soon, I bought my duplex and got the f**k outta that place!”
