Man Gets 2 Years In Prison for Having Sex on the Beach With His Girlfriend

Remember the criminally uninhabited couple who were facing up to 15 years in jail for allegedly having sex on the beach? (Not the cocktail, the actual act?) Well, they didn't end up getting that 15-year sentence, but they did get in some serious trouble: The man, 40-year-old Jose Caballero, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for getting it on with 21-year-old Elissa Alvarez on a crowded Florida beach in the middle of a day (where a 4-year-old was among the many shocked spectators).

Hope that was a romp to remember, 'cause any action Caballero is gonna get in prison will be of a distinctly different variety. Alvarez, meanwhile, was sentenced with time served and is free to go. (The disparity in their sentences probably has something to do with the fact that Caballero previously served eight years for drug-related crimes.) Both parties, however, now have to register as sex offenders, which really sucks. Alvarez is going to have that very uncomfortable conversation at every job interview for the rest of her life! Caballero will, too, but I just don't feel that bad for him. Maybe it's because he's practically 20 years older than his paramour and I feel like he probably got her wasted and talked her into the whole thing? Granted, that's pure conjecture on my part -- but just look at the girl's mugshot!

Clearly that's a young lady who's not entirely in her right mind at the moment. (Whereas Caballero just looks like he should've remembered to put on some sunblock before sexytime.) It's worth noting that the defense insisted the couple could have been doing anything, even dancing; it's also worth noting that the judge was like, "Dancing, are you freaking kidding me? I saw the video!" (I'm paraphrasing, but you get the idea.)

Oh well. Hopefully this unfortunate incident will inspire Alvarez to choose her partners a bit more carefully in the future, and to tone down the whole exhibitionist thing. I mean, in all honesty, the concept of jail time for public sex still seems a bit extreme to me, but I guess it was sort of a crazy thing to do with all those people around. (Especially the 4-year-old.) And two years is definitely a lot better than 15. So the lesson, here, pretty much, is to NOT do what these two jokers did. Because in the eyes of the law, it's apparently a pretty big deal.

Do you think this couple deserved jail time for their crime?
