9-Year-Old Girl Arrested for Hitting Her Little Sister

It must have been a slow day in Indianapolis, Indiana, when a police officer decided to arrest a 9-year-old for hitting her younger sister. The girls' mom called police when her 9-year-old punched her 6-year-old sister in the head. Instead of giving her a time-out, the mom reportedly filmed the incident and called cops.

The responding officer "made the decision to arrest," according to Fox 59. That cop must have been an only child!

I don't know about you, but I have a younger sister, and as kids we were always wailing on each other. One time she hit me and knocked out a loose tooth. I had no idea this was a criminal offense. I wonder what the statute of limitations is? Maybe I can still get some justice!

Seriously, you have to wonder why the mom's first instinct was to film the altercation and call 911. Perhaps she'd had a lot of trouble controlling that youngster in the past?

But she's 9 years old! How the hell does a 9-year-old get arrested for this? Have we all lost our marbles? The girl was actually handcuffed and taken away in a "jail wagon."

Perhaps the arrest will trigger something in the child and scare her out of hitting her sister again -- but I doubt it. Isn't this what siblings do? Hit each other? Thank goodness she didn't steal her Barbie.

I just hope this doesn't go on her record. Imagine trying to get a job as an adult and having a criminal record -- because you hit your sister at 9 years old. Baffling. Whatever happened to taking away toys or TV as punishment?

Wow, I'm so glad I grew up in a time when adults just yelled at you and sent you to your room.

Do you think she should have been arrested?
