Grandma's 'Ghost' Appears in Baby's Ultrasound Scan (VIDEO)

face in ultrasound scan

If you were watching a 4D scan of your unborn child and you suddenly saw a FACE appear amongst all that grainy orange-black footage, would you be excited? Or freaked out? I’m thinking that I would be in a lot of trouble if the ultrasound was one of those appointments where you have to have a full bladder ahead of time, because I’m pretty sure my reaction would be one of sheer terror, but the McHale family is thrilled with the mysterious image they saw in their scan.

Is it really the face of the baby’s “guardian angel” that appears on this video? Watch it for yourself and see if you can spot the father’s grandmother, because that’s who the McHales are convinced made an appearance during their ultrasound.

According to Jon and Lindsay McHale, who live near London, they were viewing the recorded 4D scan of their baby when they saw a face slowly appear and stay on the screen. Jon says his mother confirmed the sighting, and believes it looks just like Jon’s grandmother Kathy:

We didn't see it at first but my mum was in the hospital with us and she said she had seen it on the screen. She told us to take it home and watch it, and that's when we noticed it. (…) I didn't know what to think at first. It was just strange - but it wasn't a worried feeling.

The baby, Madison, is now six years old, and her parents have told her the story of her personal “angel”:

I like to think there is a relative watching over Madison (…) We have to point out the face to her but she always does a little smile and then gets a bit embarrassed.

Here’s the video, with the “face” circled when it appears:

Little Madison can’t identify the image in the scan, but her dad says that when they visited to his grandparents' house his daughter “spoke of an old lady with white hair in the front room and on the stairs, just like her Great Nan Kath, even though she never met her.”

Well, I don’t personally think there’s really a ghost in the scan, and frankly the collection of dark spots that make that area briefly resemble a face look spooky as hell (that downturned mouth!), so I’m feeling like if these parents believe a benign and loving spirit showed up then I’m happy for them. I mean, it’s better than being creeped out by it, which is probably how I’d feel.

What do you think? Is that Grandma in this baby’s ultrasound?
