Teen Suspended for Asking Miss America to Prom But It Was Totally Worth It

Nina DavuluriA high school senior with some mega guts got the memory of a lifetime, and he only was suspended three days for it. The Pennsylvania teen heard that Miss America was coming to Central York High School, so he made a plan.

During the question and answer session, Patrick Farves asked Nina Davuluri if she would go to the prom with him. Then he got suspended for asking her to the prom, which was (in my humble opinion) way harsh, but totally worth it.

Dude has game too. After he asked her, he walked to the stage with a plastic flower. The crowd of classmates of course cheered, because any high schooler with enough guts to ask Miss America to the prom -- in person -- deserves a round of applause. For her part, Davuluri laughed, and I'm going to go ahead and assume it was a delighted laugh and not a disdainful one.

School officials were not so pleased with the stunt, which they had heard about in advance. They had warned Farves not to go through with it, but being the ballsy guy that he is, he did anyway. He was served three days in-school suspension.

Which I get. He broke the rules by disrespecting authority and disrupting the event, which has since apologized for, even though I doubt he means it.

Davuluri was there to talk about STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) studies, and had probably not planned on being asked to prom. No word on whether she said yes or no, but I'm guessing her social calendar was already pretty booked anyway.

Do you think the student should have been suspended?
