Couple's Wedding Ceremony Goes Up in Flames -- Literally (VIDEO)

A newly married couple had just been pronounced man and wife when things got very hot. And I don't mean the kiss. The church where the couple had just concluded their wedding vows suddenly went up in flames, forcing the couple as well as the entire wedding party to flee for their lives.

The historic church, Lakeview Pavilion in Foxborough, Massachusetts, went up in flames at 7:15 p.m. as the wedding ceremony concluded. Justice of the Peace Jerry Cibley told the Sun Chronicle:

I had literally just pronounced them husband and wife, and they proceeded down the center aisle with the groomsmen and bridesmaids. I looked up and saw some smoke -- I initially thought it was the fog machine.

It appears the fire started in some mulch outside on the church grounds, but the fire quickly spread to the building. The wedding party of about 150 people were forced to evacuate. No one was injured, but the Justice says that the couple are "devastated," adding: "This was their big day."

Ugh, can you imagine? You spend all year, maybe your whole life, planning your perfect day only to have it go up in flames -- literally. Of course, it could have been much worse -- no one died -- but still. Let's allow them a lament for their ruined wedding. I hope they are not superstitious. Just because a friend of mine who had her wedding cake table collapse and got divorced after two years doesn't mean that kind of thing happens to everyone! It could mean their marriage is destined to be totally HOT. Rawr.

Seriously, the loss of the 108-year-old landmark is devastating to the community and hopefully everyone made it out okay!
