Pregnant Woman Attacks Roommate Over 'Terrible' Thing She Did With Butter

feagelyWhen it comes to our kitchens and how we cook, we all have our personal preferences. Some folks keep their eggs on the counter, others panic at the thought and keep them in the fridge. There have been long debates over whether or not certain fruits or veggies need to be kept chilled at all. And don't get me started about people who refrigerate their bread -- WHAT ARE YOU DOING PEOPLE? I know, I know, it is probably humid where you live. Anyway.

One woman's preference for how butter was kept (combined with a surfeit pregnancy hormones and mental health issues) recently led her to attacking her roommate! Jennifer Feagley, 24, beat her roommate Patricia Marson so badly the police had to be called. Marson's "crime"? Leaving the butter out to soften on the stove.

More from The Stir: Butter Is Finally Getting The Respect It Deserves

This woman obviously has some complex issues that she's doing battle with. She told the police that she is diagnosed as having a mental illness, one for which she usually takes medicine. However, since she became pregnant, she has stopped taking it. She sounds like she's in a tough way, and my heart goes out to her. Here's hoping this gets sorted out and she gets the help she needs.

She's got to be not a little mortified that she's in the news for something like this. But she can take solace in the fact that she's not alone. Remember the guy arrested for stealing all of that ice cream? Or the girl arrested for eating french fries in a subway station? Our food -- and how it's kept -- is very important to us. I know it has driven my past roommates nuts that I insist on keeping some butter out in a crock. What can I say? I like my butter soft for my toast. When it comes to how people like their food, it's best to stay out of the way.

What's the craziest thing you've done for food?
