Dude Scratches Back & Finds Knife Poking Out ... From Inside!

switchbladeDon't you hate it when you have an itchy spot on your back and you really really want to scratch it but you can't ... quite ... reach?! So annoying. Unless you have one of those backscratcher things, I guess. Or somebody to help you out. Like Billy McNeely of Yellowknife, Canada (oh, the irony! Just wait!). The 32-year-old was going nuts trying to get at a particularly irritating itchy patch on his back -- he was thisclose to rubbing up against a big old tree -- when he finally hit jackpot! Except something felt WRONG. Like a weird lump-shaped thing. Which was also sharp. Luckily his girlfriend was there to help. Or, horrifyingly. Depending on how you look at it. (Lucratively, perhaps. But more on that in a minute.)

Here's what happened next, in McNeely's words:

"My girlfriend got up and she started playing around with it [the sharp lump] and she manoeuvred my back in a certain way and the tip of a blade poked out of my skin."

I'm sorry, WHAT?!

Wisely, the couple went straight to the hospital, where doctors discovered a 2 and a half inch blade stuck in his back ... right where some dude left it three years ago. Yes, apparently McNeely had one hell of a birthday back in 2010, because his party ended with an arm-wrestling match that went way the hell off the rails with the birthday boy getting stabbed in the back five times. (Bet the stabbing guy didn't get invited to the next shindig! Sheesh!) An unforgettable birthday, to be sure ... but MOSTLY because the doctors who stitched him up didn't bother to take any X-rays, and 3 years later ... surprise!!!

McNeely, who'd been setting off metal detectors and suffering from burning back pain since the fight, has reportedly contacted a lawyer. Justifiably so, I'd say! I mean, I think people are definitely a bit too litigious these days, but a knife in the back?! Talk about the gift that keeps on giving ...

Would you sue the hospital if doctors left a KNIFE in your back?
