    My son recently started kindergarten.

    This is a pretty awesome event, mostly because I can take random photos of him and his wee backpack to play at his wedding some years down the road. I'm a total sucker for a good montage and he knows it. I only hope his bride-to-be can handle the awesome montage I put together.

    Anyway, I digress.

    The kid started school, which appears to last about 45 minutes, which does NOT jive well with my memories of school lasting 45 million hours, but then again, I wasn't picking myself up and transporting myself somewhere else.

    Which is what I do. Every day.

    It's hard to believe that someone as clumsy and uncoordinated as me would be a gardener.

    Especially considering that I once broke a toe making a sandwich and -- just this weekend -- nearly broke my dishwasher simply by running it. (No, not running INTO it)

    But I love to garden.

    It's my therapy. The one way I have to quiet my mind and meditate (I never could quite get the hang of sitting quietly and thinking of nothing - I always imagine the next zombie apocalypse or Barack Obama riding a unicorn).

    This year? My garden is going to be better than ever.

    You probably know at least one family affected by autism. Recent figures say one in every 88 kids have an autism spectrum disorder.

    In Angie's family, the figure is two out of three...her son has Asperger's and one of her twin daughters has mild autism. But instead of asking "why me?" she's giving back to families like hers.

    Angie volunteers for Autism Speaks, a nationwide organization that raises funds for research into the causes of autism and its treatment. Angie's hope is that someday there will be a cure for autism, and she's doing what she can to help that happen.
