The Week of Living Dangerously

Why is it that the US is so unsafe for little kids? When I was growing up, I ran around the neighborhood in just my underwear. So did all my friends! I think I was in the 2nd or the 3rd grade when I stopped doing that. The thing is, none of us were ever unsafe and none of us ever got preyed on or anything. We're all well-adjusted, successful adults now too. Now there are little kids going to therapy coz their parents watch them like hawks, are afraid to punish them when they do wrong, and are basically raising their kids to be paranoid, sex-crazy teenagers with entitlement issues. Seriously. My buddies at school have been comfortable walking around me naked since I was 12, but that didn't actually make me some sex-crazed teen. I didn't even lose my V until age 22 coz all that nudity was so normal to me (no, I'm not from some nudist community or whatever). It just didn't have the whole exciting appeal of a taboo.
