Well, my 7 year old is getting her own sewing maching and she is going to be OVER THE MOON about it when she sees it.  I told her a while back I would teach her how to sew on my maching but I keep putting her off because I know she is getting her own machine for Christmas. She doesn't even know she wants her own but she is going to be so excited!  I don't think it has even occurred to her that she COULD have her own.

Kids always ask for the moon. It's up to us parents to discern what we can afford to give them.

For $10 or less this difficult economic Christmas of 2009 my tweens will still get a fabulous gift in the form of their own PHONE. Found the TRACFONE SamsungT101 with Double Minutes at Family Dollar and Dollar General. Also saw the TRACFONE Motorola W260G for $9.88 at Walmart, which carries three other models: the LG410G for $14.88, the Motorola W376G for $19.88 and the LG410G for $14.88. Target and Radio Shack are carrying models that go from $14.99 to $29.99.

The beauty of the prepaid cell TRACFONE is that it doesn't subject me to a contract. We pay as we go and there are no hidden fees or costs. Also, it's carried on the Verizon network, ranked best service coast to coast by Consumer Report Magazine. Happy Holidays!!!

Board Games -- $10

Some of the big retailers are slashing prices on these games right now. A quick search turned up the classic Operation for $10 at amazon. I love playing this game with my 6 year old. It helps with his dexterity and hand-eye coordination, and it's so much fun to get grossed out over the burp and bone and other body parts.

"I buy them for my 8 year old nephew," says KierstynsMom. "He gets to interact and learn something. My daughter, who is only 3, loves the game Candyland. She plays it with my nephew. Board games are a great gift especially for multiples. Why not buy a board game for all of them to play?"
