Giveaway: "Race to the Rescue" Children's Book!

I love the "story behind the story" of the children's book, The Flights of Marceau: Race to the Rescue by Joe Brown, father of makeup artist Bobbi Brown.

When Bobbi and her siblings were growing up, her father saw a French adventure film whose story inspired him to create the character Marceau: a taxi driver from New York City, who escapes from his less than exciting existence by using his imagination to take part in amazing adventures with animals, birds and anything else his mind can imagine.

Brown would read his three children his rhyming stories every night and soon they began memorizing the tales themselves. Over time, he wrote down the adventures, which he put in the attic and forgot about for 35 years.

In 2005, Brown was in Telluride celebrating his 70th birthday. On the way to dinner, his grandson, Dylan, asked him to stop at a local bookstore where he led him to a bookshelf, and sitting there was a bound, hardcover copy of The Flights of Marceau.

His daughter, Bobbi, had gotten 100 copies of the tales made as a birthday gift. Brown eventually found a real publisher, and the rest is history.

It's a wonderful tale worth reading to your own kids. Here's your chance to win a copy. To enter to win one, tell me:
