Yawn. My first grader woke me up at 6:45 a.m. today -- 15 minutes earlier than I normally have to drag him out of bed during the week for school. And he'd be sleeping way longer than that during the week if I let him.
I guess it's payback for the weekdays.
Why, oh, why can't kids sleep later during the weekends?
Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I'm hoping for a nap.

My kids know better then to wake me up in the morning but they tend to get a little loud which eventually wakes me up. During the summer they were getting up at 6am (45 minutes earlier then when I wake them during the school year). But I was still sleeping until 7 or 8am most mornings.
My husband is off this weeken (very unusual for us...can't remember the last time he had a weekend off) so he made them stay upstairs because he sleeps on the couch so I didn't hear them until my 9yo started whining about cleaning her room just before 8am.
I taught my kids early to be independent and do things on their own so they don't need me to get up with them. They are 9, 8, 7 and 3 and they get up and get their own breakfast in the morning and have been doing it since the oldest was 5. They enjoy that freedom (I just wish they'd clean up after themselves before I wake up but...we're working on it).
