kidnapping victime found, Jaycee Lee DugardJaycee Lee Dugard disappeared in South Lake Tahoe, California, at age 11 in 1991. Yesterday, she was found alive and well and has been reunited with her mother Terry Probyn and half-sister Shayna. Jaycee is now 29 years old.

While my heart is swelling with glee that Jaycee Dugard has been found, alive and in good health, I can't help but cry with grief over her kidnapping and the grim details of the years she was missing, years that she was held captive and had two children, now age 11 and 15, fathered by her abductor.

We do know convicted sex offender Phillip Garrido and his wife Nancy Garrido have been booked on charges related to kidnapping, conspiracy, and related offenses. Jaycee and her two daughters were kept behind the Garrido's house and lived and slept in some sort of backyard sheds. There is much more that will unfold about this absolutely heart-wrenching and disturbing story.

For now, I'm going to try to concentrate on the positive side of this story. The side where Jaycee's mother, no doubt heartbroken with years of grief, gets a call after 18 years and is told her daughter is ALIVE. ALIVE! And she has two healthy granddaughters too!

Off to go hug my kids now.
