There's a great post "The first-day-of-school photo: how to do it and do it well" over on BlogHer from Karen Walrond (remember her lovely home tour?).
Like Karen, I love documenting the "small, beautiful moments" in our family life. I capture so much of our daily life. However, I tend to be bad about documenting the special days like the First Day of School. I guess, cause I'm pretty wrapped up on those days.
Karen's little photo tutorial reminds me, though, that I can find precious moments in the small stuff amid the big stuff. I love her daughter's First Day of School photos.

Great idea!
OK read it and was crying because my middle man start kindergarten tomorrow and my oldest is going into the 3rd grade and well the baby will start pre-k in January. But all these are great ideas.
